Assistant Controller

As part our Finance team, our Assistant Controller will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial foundation of our organization. Working closely with the Controller, your primary responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of financial and accounting functions that are crucial to maintaining accurate and transparent financial records. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to precision, you will help drive the organization's financial success by facilitating efficient accounting operations, participating in audits, and providing valuable insights through financial analysis.
- Assist with management of day-to-day accounting activities and oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Implement and monitor internal control procedures to adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
- Prepare and analyse financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and ensures timely delivery for consolidation at the corporate level.
- Prepare the Monthly Management Report and provide commentary on budget-to-actuals and period-to-period variances.
- Perform monthly intercompany reconciliation of Canadian cannabis division
- Process period-end journal entries and assist in the preparation and review of month-end working papers.
- Collaborate with the Controller and Director of Finance in presenting financial information to senior management and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Work with external auditors during the annual financial and SOX audits.
- Supervise and coach accounting team members, promoting a cohesive and efficient work environment.
- Participate in special projects, such as process improvements, data management, and reporting automation.
- Communicate effectively with team members, other departments, parent and sister companies, and external stakeholders.

- Financial Acumen: strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Experience in manufacturing and cannabis is an asset.

- Leadership and Team Management: ability to lead and manage a team, this involves providing guidance, motivation, and support to team members to ensure a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required.
- 6+ years’ experience in accounting and/or finance roles
- 2+ years’ experience in a leadership role
- Knowledge of French to work with Quebec staff
- Knowledge of English to work with in collaboration with sister and parental companies (British Columbia and US)
- This is an on-site role, working in or supporting operations and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams across the business.
- Must have the ability to maintain and pass an RCMP criminal record check and obtain a security clearance.
