Role Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head Grower will be responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and improving of the cultural program ensuring successful crops in production through to harvest in a safe environment. The Head Grower will manage the grower’s team and the production technicians to ensure the production schedule is followed adequately. This highly skilled professional will oversee all areas pertaining to crop health while managing the overall costs related to the growing of plants and work in close collaboration with other departments (Processing, Maintenance, Quality, Marketing, Supply and Demand, Finance) to meet the market demand in a consistence manner.

How you can contribute:
Functional Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate production schedule including, communicating changes due to plant needs.
  • Ensure Production Schedules are suitable to Plant needs and are attainable from an Agronomic view.
  • Responsible for review and revisions of all SOP’s related to production.
  • Ensure all direct reports are trained and in compliance with all relevant SOP’s, Best practices, and Fertigation.
  • Monitor and document plant development and communicate the crop status and roadblocks weekly with the senior management team of the facility.
  • Provide leadership for problem and conflict resolution.
  • Monitor, oversee and control the environment and fertigation using Damatex.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workplace.
  • Keep the Best Practice Document accurate.
  • Ensure compliance under GPP regulations.
  • Provide /propose operational improvements related to Plant Health.
  • Work in collaboration with the Processing, Maintenance, Quality, Marketing, Supply and Demand, Finance Department to meet the demand at cost.
  • On call for alarms may be required.
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Provide a weekly Summary of Crop Status to the Senior Management team.
  • Motivate, train, and enhance the Cultivation team set of skills continually.
  • Work in high collaboration with Senior Leadership, to effectively translate business objectives into departmental goals.
  • Perform any other tasks as required by the COO.
You’re really good at:
  • Strong inventory and documentation skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills; strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Things we hope you have:
  • Must have a degree (diploma or higher) in Horticulture/Agronomy.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years work experience in large scale (>2 hectares) crop production; Indoor Cannabis production may be considered as equivalent.
  • Experience in floriculture and/or management of multiple and diverse crop rotations.
  • Bilingual: French and English will be considered a strong asset.
  • Practical knowledge of Damatex or another Greenhouse Environmental System.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Proven expertise encompassing indoor/greenhouse production, plant nutrition, crop and pest management, software sensors and controls, data analysis.
  • Can work under minimal supervision.
