Production Planning Manager

Role Summary:

The Production Planning Manager will manage and coordinate the planning, implementation and reporting for activities as it pertains to operations and continuous improvement in our production facility in Huntingdon. This individual will ensure the seamless planning and coordination of the Production Plan, Master Schedule, New Product Introductions, Production and Facility Upgrades. Another fundamental responsibility of the planning manager is to gather data and information to effectively report on the progress of the Facilities operations, against its KPIs and Objectives. The position requires leadership, drive, and independence, initiative, and is responsible for direct management reports and the optimization of pre /post-harvest production processes and overall cost reduction initiatives.

How you can contribute:
  • Collaborate closely with leadership, facility managers, related teams and applicable stakeholders to formulate robust production and demand plans that align with market needs, resource capacities, and regulatory guidelines;
  • Create, refine, and execute short-term and long-term production schedules that synchronize with sales projections and facility capacities;
  • Continuously analyze production data and market trends to adjust production and demand plans accordingly, ensuring flexibility and adaptability;
  • Oversee inventory levels across all facilities to ensure adequate stock for production while minimizing excess inventory and waste;
  • Collaborate with Mater Scheduler to have production schedules based on demand projections.
  • Implement effective inventory control strategies, such as safety stock levels and reorder points, to maintain optimal stock levels and product availability;
  • Allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, efficiently across facilities to achieve production targets and operational efficiency;
  • Ensure that all production and demand planning processes adhere to industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies;
  • Partner with quality assurance teams to implement and maintain stringent quality control measures throughout the production process;
  • Collaborate with all applicable departments to obtain and to share information that is relevant to all, maximizing understanding and communication around changes;
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to assess staffing needs, plan workforce levels, and identify skill development opportunities;
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor production efficiency, demand accuracy, and resource utilization;
  • Generate regular reports for senior management, highlighting production and demand metrics, achievements, and areas for enhancement;
How you can contribute:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field. A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered.
  • 5 years + of previous experience, in a managerial role within a manufacturing environment, preference to cannabis or similar high regulatory industry.
  • Proven experience in production planning, demand forecasting, and logistics within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the cannabis industry.
  • Excellent understanding of production planning, warehouse management, and inventory systems.
  • Expert knowledge of the Office suite and tools for production and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of cannabis industry regulations and quality standards is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in utilizing production planning software and ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Knowledge of cannabis production standards and industry regulations is considered an asset.
