How you can contribute:

The Vice President of Operations will manage and oversee all hands-on operational, procedural, and administrative aspects of the Companies Operations, provide day-to-day leadership and management reflecting the core values of the Company, spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies, processes, and synergies and be responsible for the flawless execution of the company mission and strategic plans.

As a vital member of the senior leadership team, the VP of Ops reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer, and collaboratively establishes policies that promote the Company culture and vision through its operations. The VP of Ops is responsible for the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the business, which includes maintaining control of diverse business, production, processing and supply chain operations and establishing and following a set of GPP policies and processes.

The VP of Ops position provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. By setting overall goals for performance and growth, the VP of Ops leads employees and encourages maximum performance and dedication.

The VP of Ops role is a high-visibility position, requiring strong communication skills and the responsibility of being called upon to positively represent the Company and our brand in the community, the media, and with all other internal and external stakeholders as needed.

The role is broad in material responsibility, geographic proximity, and necessary capacities and accordingly requires a high caliber individual with wide-ranging skills to match. Top performers in this role are strategic visionaries with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. The VP of Ops must be well-organized and self-directed while maintaining a team-oriented approach. Above all other requirements is an insatiable desire to model the behavior of both being and promoting creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit, having unimpeachable ethical standards, an energetic, forward-thinking approach, while being able to integrate detailed information into a "big picture" view to make balanced decisions to the greatest benefit of the company.

Responsibilities:
Leadership:
  • Effectively Leading core manufacturing and complex supply chain operations teams through rapid growth, while ensuring seamless delivery of production outputs to meet demand;
  • Liaise with all departments, including Executive, Accounting, Sales, Client Services, Engineering, Human Resources, Marketing, etc., to align on objectives, risks/opportunities, troubleshooting and plans;
  • Working with various layers of leadership to formulate and implement business strategy, plans, operational best practice, policy, and procedure company-wide;
  • Driving cross-functional projects to completion and developing systems to track progress towards operational goals Supporting business activities such as brand strategy, product positioning, messaging and resource planning;
  • Ability to prepare and delivery persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics; does not shy away from bringing challenging information forward so that it can be acted upon;
  • Contribute actively in driving sales, strategy and product development initiatives and business development targeted to grow the business organically.
Quality & Financial:
  • Drive the development and execution of the organization's operational strategy to achieve improved profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives through its operations;
  • Oversee and is responsible for the effective implementation of new operational capabilities, technologies, capital improvements and new product introductions (NPIs);
  • Ensure measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes throughout all layers of the operational structure;
  • Create reports to demonstrate the success or failure of operational activities, analyze results, report on key metrics, and findings. Use these metrics to drive future strategies in various markets;
  • Aid the Executive Team in communicating operational performance and KPIs to the parent company and discussing strategic options for achieving the company's objectives;
  • Introduce and augment "best practices" processes and concepts for multi-location verticals into this business to foster higher levels of operational execution efficiency and excellence in the enterprise.
People & Development:
  • Support Human Resources in the areas of Operations Team Structure; talent acquisition, workforce planning, training and development, and Company culture;
  • Establish the position as trustworthy with a willingness to share information and to serve as a mentor;
  • Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints and create a culture for leadership to emulate that behavior and responsiveness;
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountability/ownership-driven environment within the Company while representing the company with employees, clients, investors, and business partners;
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization;
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance operations team; attracting, recruiting, and retaining required members of the team not currently in place; providing mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program;
  • Build and promote an organizational culture that is customer-centric, professional, and respected as a "best place to work".
Compliance:
  • Illustrate exceptional negotiation skills, working with legal counsel to vet and develop contract and relationship agreements with outside partners to the greatest benefit of the company;
  • Manage day to day relationships with third parties to ensure compliance while maximizing output and execution;
  • Adapt operations to meet varied operational and compliance needs based upon geographical regulations and requirements while maintaining maximum efficiency;
  • Ensure that business processes are systematized to ensure consistent service delivery, increasing productivity, and regulatory compliance;
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure the execution of programs and procedures in compliance with all local, state, and Federal regulations;
  • Update job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, accomplishing relevant certifications, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

  • Strong process/project management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Effective written and verbal communicator, adept in conveying information concisely and accurately.
Things we hope you have:
  • 10 years of relevant Operations, Manufacturing, Processing, Supply Chain or similar experience;
  • At least 3 years operating in a similar role with similar amounts of complexity in Operations (Manufacturing) & Supply Chain functions.
  • Experience with Cannabis, Agricultural or heavily regulated consumer products is an asset, but not exclusionary;
  • Familiar with ERP & QMS Systems, Materials Management & inventory movements across controlled chain of custody;
  • Concrete business examples of accomplishments leading Operational teams effectively to achieve objectives in a rapidly changing / growing context;
  • Bilingual (French and English) with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Mobility: The role, and its Operations team, is located at our primary production, Huntingdon, QC, with travel as required to Commercial Offices in Montreal;
  • You will be required to use your personal vehicle
  • Occasional travel might be needed to parent and/or sister companies
